About the Book

"HER, TOO" is a poignant exploration of Anna and Jordan Rathkopf's lives as they navigate the challenges of cancer. The story unfolds through dual perspectives: Anna, diagnosed at age 36 with an aggressive form of breast cancer, and Jordan, the caretaker.

Through Anna's self-portraits and intimate family photographs, her narrative reshapes the cancer experience, delving into themes of femininity, motherhood, and identity with honesty and detail. Simultaneously, Jordan's parallel narrative explores the emotional complexities of masculinity and vulnerability as a caretaker, portraying the challenges of being a pillar of strength while grappling with the trauma. Together, their experiences provide a unique and powerful look into the impact of illness and caregiving, encompassing the additional layer of raising a three-year-old son, Jesse.

The book captures the nuances of facing illness and mortality, emphasizing love, resilience, and support as essential tools in overcoming adversity. Through Anna and Jordan's eyes, readers witness the intricate web of emotions surrounding these difficult times and are inspired to discover strength and beauty amid life's significant challenges - from the shock of diagnosis through survivorship and healing.

When the doctor told me the results weren’t good, I went to the window and I looked outside. I saw people walking and having a normal day. I didn’t know if my life could ever be like that again.

I felt the need to be strong for Anna and our son, but I was struggling heavily with anxiety and depression.
